I have been trying to install VB 2008 express on a Vista box with no success.
I have tried both the .exe setup files as well as the .iso file. The iso file
seems to fail with the C++ pre-requisits. The .exe hangs on the download of
either the SQL compact or the SQL types file. Have tried uninstalling all,
clearing reg, deleting folders, restarts and starting over yet get the same
results. Happy to get log files for this install if you can tell me which
ones to look for.

Here is a link to the complete ISO download so you can install locally:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=3254C868-BCB9-412C-95C6-D100C872EC60&displaylang=en

You'll need to either burn the ISO using "image to disc" facility of your
favorite optical media burning software or mount the ISO on a virtual
optical drive.
